Normanton to Croydon

Take the Classic Experience across the Savannah with a relaxed 5 hour journey from Normanton to Croydon and/or return. With interpretive stops and photo opportunities along the way, your driver and guide will provide commentary on the rail line, local history, flora and fauna and stories of colourful characters. He may even make a quick stop to do a mail run to remote cattle stations on the line as well.


Once a week each way during the dry season. Departs Normanton: Wednesday at 8.30am. Departs Croydon: Thursday 8.30am.

​One way journey with coach return

For those passengers wishing to return the same day, there are coach services available returning back to Normanton from Croydon on Wednesdays. Due to limited seating, bookings are strongly recommended and can be made when purchasing your Gulflander tickets.

One way journey with 'share ride'

Stay on the move with 'share ride'. Purchase one ticket and the other person drives your vehicle. Driver meets the Gulflander at Blackbull morning tea stop (11.15am) and you swap places to share in the Gulflander experience. Available in reverse Thursdays (Blackbull stop 10.15am).

Return journey (Croydon to Normanton)

Thursday's return journey is more relaxed allowing time for interpretive stops and photo opportunities. Your Savannah Guide will know the places of most interest as the seasons change and show you sights and places that others don't get to see.
