COVID-19 requirements in Queensland

Masks are not mandatory on Gulflander services but encouraged.

Latest vaccination update (14 April 2022)

If you are travelling on Gulflander you do not need to be vaccinated (or show proof of vaccination) to enter the station and travel on the train.

If you have purchased a package through one of Queensland Rail Travel's partners, you should check with that operator for their terms and conditions, as their requirements may differ.

Here's what we're doing to help you travel safe

Our onboard team is fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This is just one way we are helping to keep you safe.

Supporting Social Distancing

We have signs to encourage spacing throughout the station will help us all maintain social distancing. Customer limits are in place in our museum and gift shop in Normanton. COVID-19 announcements onboard the Gulflander and at our stations assist in keeping customers informed.

Fewer Touch Points

We are operating with cashless transactions at our Travel Centres, check-in counters and stations. We accept credit and debit card payments only. EPTPOS machines are wiped down on a regular basis.

Enhanced Cleaning

We have increased sanitising and cleaning of touch points including door handles, and hand rails at stations and onboard the Gulflander.

Cancellation and rebooking fees waived

If you need to cancel or change your booking due to COVID-19 we continue to waive cancellation fees. If you purchased a package through one of our partners, please check with them for their terms and conditions.

Kuranda Scenic Railway is operating at 100% capacity onboard, in compliance with the Queensland Government Rail Tourism COVID Safe Requirements.

Help keep everyone safe

To protect yourself, your family and the community from getting COVID-19:

  • Remain in your allocated seating thoughout the journey.
  • Practice social distancing when possible.
  • Maintain good hand hygiene and wash your hands often with soap and water, use hand sanitiser, sneeze or cough into your arm. Customer hygiene packs are available onboard and include a face mask and hand sanitiser.
