Travel Tips – prepare for your trip

How to beat the heat!

The Gulflander railmotor is more than 70 years old, hence the charm of this heritage experience! However, it does mean there is no air-conditioning. The train has open-air windows but in warmer months, inside the train can feel hot and humid.

Follow our steps to prep for tropical heat and hotter travel conditions.

Follow our steps to prep:

  • Always check our Service Updates page as weather can impact our rail services

  • Stay hydrated – bring plenty of water with you for the trip, as there are no shops onboard

  • Stay cool – wear lightweight clothing

  • Slip, slop, slap – always remember to wear sun protection

  • Don't forget to tag us aboard the legendary Gulflander! @queenslandrailtravel #gulflander

  • We are operating with cashless transactions at our railway station. We accept credit and debit card payments only
